Will people who get their GED be successful in life?

I have a 16 yr old friend who thinks he is going to be the next Kurt Cobain. Unfortunately he is very anti social (unless it’s talking to someone online) very poor student who goes to school on the phone because he can’t be in a regular classroom and wants to maybe just get a GED…no plans for college. What do you think his chances of success are with this plan? Thanks

First of all, some people are just not school and college material…we must recognize that. If he actually gets his GED, it is just the same as a high school diploma. He can go to college later if he chooses, and he could do that online! GED will not ruin his future at all! Be supportive and encourage him if this is his choice.
He could have just decided to drop out and not get a GED…that would be the bad thing!
